The Summer Day Camp for Children and Youth with Autism is a recreation program for individuals on the autism spectrum between the ages of 3-25 years. Each camper is supported with a 1:1 camper/counsellor ratio and activities are designed specifically with participants’ needs and interests in mind.  The camp will take place in 7 different locations throughout the Annapolis Valley.  Application closing date Friday, June 3rd., 4:30 p.m.

Camp Coordinator

Program: Summer Camp for Children and Youth with Autism
Time: Approx. 40 hours / wk. (Flexibility required)  $15 per hour
Term: 9 weeks starting Monday, June 20th, ending Friday August 19th (exact dates to be confirmed)
Location: Various
Accountability: The Program Coordinator is accountable to the Chapter Navigator.
Responsibility: The Program Coordinator is responsible to run and facilitate the camp under the supervision of the Chapter Navigator. The
Program Coordinator reports to the Chapter Navigator and speaks
for the camp in the absence of the Chapter Navigator.

General Duties:
Program Coordinator is responsible for the following:
• Assist with the development of programming and scheduling for daily camp activities
Implement and facilitate daily camp activities as per program schedule.
•.Assist the Chapter Navigator to plan and organize training for counselors during pre-camp week.
• Ensure good communication with staff, parents, and campers regarding
camp activities.
• Work directly with children in the camp, providing 1:1 support for a camper during each one-week session.
• Observe and monitor personnel interactions, advise Chapter Navigator of any concerns.
Schedule and maintain staff ratios, as well as develop work assignments.
• Supervise camp staff.  Mentor and support staff.
• Administer any medications required by campers as per instructions given
by parents/physician, and fill out appropriate medication forms.
• Other duties as designated by the Chapter Navigator.

Qualifications:
• A great deal of knowledge and experience working with individuals with
autism
• Knowledge and experience supervising and managing a team
• Knowledge and experience in planning and facilitating recreation based
activities
• Good leadership skills
• University degree or student in a post-secondary program
• Good communication skills (written and oral)
• Able to work independently
• Strong organizational skills
• Up to date First Aid certification

Camp Counselor
Program: Summer Day Camp for Children and Youth with Autism
Time: Approx 35 hours / wk. (Flexibility required) $12.50 per hour
Term: 8 weeks starting Monday, June 27th ending Friday, August 19th (exact dates to be confirmed)
Location: Various
Accountability: The Camp Counselor is accountable to the Camp Coordinator.
Responsibility: The Camp Counselor acts as a guardian and facilitator for the child assigned to his/her care during camp hours.  The Camp Counselor is responsible to ensure a safe, fun, active and enjoyable recreational day camp experience for the children in the camp program.

General Duties:
The Camp Counsellor is responsible for the following:
• To adhere to all policies and procedures including those identified in the Policies and Procedures Manual and the Staff Manual.
• Ensure all campers are treated with dignity and respect.
• Ensure the health and safety needs of each camper are met at all times.
• Never leave a camper unattended in the camp or community and to be able to account for a camper’s whereabouts at all times.
• To ensure camp facilities are cleaned up and in order.
• Other duties as required.

Qualifications:
